Ingredients

For the kale

  • 70 g onions
  • 1 clove of garlic
  • 1 red chili pepper
  • 500 g kale
  • 3 cm ginger root
  • 3 tbsp olive oil, heat-resistant
  • 200 ml vegetable broth
  • 1 tsp potato starch + 1 tbsp water (if needed)
  • Crystal salt and pepper from the mill

Instructions

Kale in a different way: For this dish, the kale is seasoned with chili and ginger, which gives it a pleasantly spicy aroma! For example, you can serve boiled potatoes with it.

Step 1

Cut the onions in half and cut them into strips;

Cut the garlic into thin slices;

Cut the chili pepper into rings (remove the seeds beforehand if necessary);

Remove the stems from the kale, cut the leaves into 1 cm strips;

Cut the ginger first into thin slices, then into thin sticks.

Step 2

Heat a large, shallow saucepan with 3 tablespoons of olive oil to medium temperature and slowly sauté the onion strips until golden.

Then add the garlic slices and gently sauté for 1 – 2 minutes, stirring constantly.

Add the chilli rings, deglaze with 200 ml vegetable stock and cook for 2 minutes.

Then add the kale leaves and ginger sticks;

Season with salt and pepper.

Put a lid on and simmer the kale for 10 – 15 minutes until soft.

Step 3

1 minute before the end of cooking, if necessary, thicken the liquid with a little mixed starch and bring to the boil briefly.

Remove the pot from the heat; season with salt and pepper to taste.

Arrange the kale and enjoy served with boiled potatoes, for example.
