Colonic FAQ
What is a Colonic?
How to prepare for my colonic?
We recommend that you drink 1 liter of water in the morning so you are well hydrated before your session.
Please don’t eat 2 hours before you come. And only take a small amount of liquid as necessary.
Please stop eating any stool coloring foods 48 hours before your appointment. This would include Beetroot, Turmeric or Spirulina. Small amounts of other green foods like spinach are ok.
If this is your first colonic we want you to do everything as you normally would, so we can see how your bowel operates under normal circumstances. So there is no need to go on a special diet or fast.
After we’ve seen you we will make recommendations on diet, supplement or lifestyle changes if necessary.
What to expect after my colonic?
After your colonic, you could anticipate feeling more peaceful, lighter and cleaner.
You might feel more energized or feel like resting. Either way, you can go about your day as usual.
We recommend not to have any alcohol, rich or spicy foods for 24 hours after your treatment. But instead, drink water or fresh juices and eat food that is easy to digest like soups or steamed vegetables. Try to avoid drinks with gas, natural or added, and take care to avoid any foods that can cause gas.
On occasion, if there has been a longstanding condition of constipation or several health problems, a slight headache or fatigue may be experienced. If this is so, a short rest will help restore one’s equilibrium.
In some cases, you may feel slightly bloated for a few hours after the colonic as the unstrapped gas makes its way to the exit. If this is the case, have a cup of peppermint tea and lie down with a hot water bottle for a while.
Your bowel movements should go back to normal within one day. In rare cases, it may take up to three days before it fills up again and normal bowel movements are resumed.
Some water is absorbed through the colon wall during a colonic and one may notice an increased need to urinate for a few hours afterward. This beneficial effect of flushing the kidneys may also be enhanced by drinking a few glasses of water with the juice of half a lemon added.
If there was a lot of old fecal matter and emotional release you might feel a little bit more sensitive over the next few days. Old memories and emotions could surface.
How many colonic sessions do I need?
Normally several treatments will be required to achieve desired results regarding the elimination of impacted matter and restoration of bowel regularity.
Initially, only gas and recent fecal matter may be expelled. With every session, we can go deeper, releasing more hardened matter and also releasing old seated emotions. This, in combination with an improved diet and detoxification, will yield the best results.
To start off it is always beneficial to have 3 or 4 treatments closer together, ideally one per week.
After that, it depends on the problem you presented with, your age, lifestyle, and budget.
If you are healthy, having up to 12 colonics per year is a good plan.
Most of our customers come once a month.
Some clients prefer to have 3 colonics closer together every 3 months at the change of the seasons.
If you are under 40 and have been living on a raw food diet all your life you probably only need one colonic every year – if that.
Who can benefit from Colonics?
Basically nearly everybody. Except for children under 15 and the very weak and frail or if you have any of the contraindications.
Colonic Irrigation supports a healthy body by removing waste like dead cells, mucus, parasites, feces etc and stops it from circulating back into the bloodstream. Those wastes can hinder the colon to assimilate vitamins and minerals as well as producing good bacteria. Too much material in the colon can weaken the muscular action and result in constipation or sluggish bowels and other colon disorders. Colonic Irrigation rejuvenates the colon and exercises the muscles in the colon walls. Chronic constipation and inflammation can alter the shape of the colon which can cause further problems. The deep massage of colon reflex points and gentle flow of water help to regain the shape and strength. It is not uncommon to also release old emotional patterns when having a series of colonics.
For most people, a colonic is a life-changing experience for the better. We are renowned for turning skeptics into believers. And if you had a negative experience in the past we promise it will be totally different! Unfortunately, we sometimes get clients who have been having colonics elsewhere with a rather unpleasant experience for some reason or another. If that is you, talk to us. Don’t let one negative experience stop you from regaining optimum health.
