For the apple crumble

  • 360 g apples, slightly sour – peel, core and cut into 1.5 cm cubes
  • 50 g oat flakes, gluten-free
  • 50 g almonds, ground
  • 2 tbsp raisins
  • 50 g + 2 tbsp margarine, vegan + heat-resistant – use from the refrigerator (cold)
  • 1 tbsp + 4 tsp xylitol (or any other natural sugar substitute)
  • ½ teaspoon bourbon vanilla powder
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon powder
  • ¼ teaspoon cardamom powder
  • 1 pinch of crystal salt

For the vanilla sauce

  • 200 ml soy drink
  • 80 ml soy cream
  • 2 tbsp agave syrup
  • 4 teaspoons organic corn starch, coated – mix with 4 tbsp water
  • ½ teaspoon bourbon vanilla powder
  • 1 pinch of organic lemon zest
  • 1 pinch of crystal salt

Instructions

Who doesn’t like a nice apple crumble. Although we have used half as much sugar and fat in our recipe and no flour! We have not compromised the taste.  No need to tell anyone it’s GF or low sugar, it’s so tasty and so good you could fool anyone.

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 180 ° C and prepare a fire-proof gratin dish (approx. 20 x 15 cm).

Step 2

For the apple crumble, heat 2 tablespoons of margarine in a saucepan and let it melt.

Then steam the apple pieces together with the raisins for about 3 minutes.

Then dust with 1 tbsp xylitol, vanilla and cardamom and mix.

Step 3

In the meantime, quickly (!) Knead the almonds, oat flakes, 50 g cold margarine, 4 teaspoons xylitol, cinnamon and 1 pinch of salt by hand into a crumbly mass.

Step 4

Spread the apples in the gratin dish, then sprinkle the crumble mixture evenly over the top.

Then bake for 25 – 30 minutes until golden brown.

Step 5

For the vanilla sauce, put the soy drink in a saucepan and bring to the boil.

Then add the remaining ingredients – except for the starch – and simmer for 2 minutes.

Set aside and only bring to the boil shortly before consumption and stir in the starch.

Step 6

Enjoy the apple crumble with the vanilla sauce.
