Dorn Spinal Therapy
Dorn Spinal Therapy is a holistic therapy which focuses on misalignment of the spinal column. The practice is considered to be a distant cousin to chiropractic and osteopathy.
The modality was first developed by Dieter Dorn of Germany in the 1970’s and is now fast becoming the widest used therapy for Back Pain and many Spinal Disorders in Germany.
Chiropractic
Chiropractic is classified as a form of alternative medicine. Chiropractors diagnosis and treat a range of musculoskeletal mechanical disorders and believe that spinal joint dysfunction interferes with the body’s function and these disorders impact heavily on ones health.
Techniques used by chiropractors involve manual therapy or adjustments to the spine. Some chiropractors prescribe exercises and posture reconciliation to assist patients.
In recent years kinesiology has been embraced by chiropractors as a diagnostic tool.
Craniosacral Therapy
Craniosacral Therapy operates under the principle that everyone is born with a “vital force” energy, or an unconditional intelligence. That this spiritual intellect is what operates our body. That this unchartable intelligence is constant force relaying messages through our bodies and supplying it with all the information it needs to function as normal.
This innate Intelligence heals the body and is always with you and exists in every cell of your body. However imbalance, usual in the spine and associated nervous system can interrupt and interfere with the transmission of this intelligence and cause imbalance and altered cell formation that if left un checked can create disease and malady.
Therefore Craniosacral Therapists help to correct structural imbalances in the human body which in turn promotes restoration of function to this intelligent framework. Which in turn allows dysfunctional cells to heal themselves.
Craniosacral Therapists do not use traditional massage methods or spinal manipulations, instead they rely on Myofascial Release Therapy, Muscle Energy balancing, Polarity Therapy, Acupressure and Positional Release Therapy.
Osteopathy
Is the physical manipulations of the bones and muscle tissue. Osteopathy is often used as a treatment for low back pain, neck, shoulder or lower limb pain and as a recovery regime after operations. Osteopathy is also used as an effective treatment for health conditions “unrelated” to the bones and muscles, “such as headaches, migraines, digestive disorders, painful periods and depression.
Osteopaths are university trained in general medical diagnosis and osteopathic techniques to be eligible to practice. This includes anatomy, physiology, pathology.
