Kahuna
Kahuna is an umbrella term for a number of healing modalities that observe the Hawaiian model of native medicinal practice. In western terms Kahuna is a massage technique based on the traditional practice of the ancient Hawaiian Kahunas. A Kahuna is an expert in any profession or modality. Many of the esoteric trades of the Hawaiian Kahuna’s like the magician or minister, wizards, herbalists and medicine keepers; were all referred to as Kahunas. Kahuna massage techniques were practiced by these shaman for relaxation and as one of the Kahuna healing arts. The Kamakau lists more than 20 healing arts where status as a Kahuna could be established. It is said that the modern Kahuna massage practice which is vigorous and energetic can transport patients to higher planes of consciousness where healing on deep levels can be attained.

Massage Hawaiian
Hawaiian massage can sometimes be referred to as Lomi Lomi.
At the core of this healing massage technique is the way in which the practitioner massages the soft tissue areas of the body. This physical manipulation with the hands of the practitioner is referred to as Lomi; in the Hawaiian language this means " to work in and out; very similar to the motion cats make by rhythmically alternating their paws or the movement made by a baker when kneading dough.
