Ingredients

For the turmeric hemp drink

  • 100 g hemp seeds, peeled
  • 4 Medjool dates, pitted
  • 1 teaspoon finely grated turmeric root
  • 400 ml of water
  • 2 teaspoons lemon juice – freshly squeezed
  • 1 pinch of vanilla powder
  • 1 pinch of crystal salt
  • 1 pinch of black pepper from the mill

Note: The drink is a good source of iron, but should not be poured through a sieve, as this will remove some of the minerals from the drink. The lemon juice increases iron absorption due to its fruit acids and vitamin C content. The turmeric root contained in the drink does not inhibit iron absorption ( 1 ).

Instructions

This healthy turmeric hemp drink is prepared in a flash and impresses with its wonderful aroma. Together with the other ingredients, this drink becomes a small superfood – a good source of iron, among other things.

Step 1

Mix 400 ml of water with 4 pitted dates in a blender for 2 – 3 minutes.

In the meantime, grate 1 teaspoon of turmeric and squeeze 2 teaspoons of lemon juice.

Then add 100 g of hemp seeds to the blender and blend for another 30 seconds (no longer, otherwise the seeds will become bitter!).

Step 2

Pour the drink into a tall container, season with 2 teaspoons of lemon juice , 1 pinch of vanilla powder and 1 teaspoon of grated turmeric; season with salt and pepper, and mix well.

Then pour over a fine sieve into a sealable glass container and store in the refrigerator until use.

Note: The turmeric drink can be stored in the refrigerator for 2 days.
